I bought this Beetle off of eBay for just £25 after seeing two others that were £55 without a box and £85 with a box but not producing smoke.  This one was sold as non-working and with a damaged box (it has been taped).  I bought it just to have the model in my collection.

Once it arrived I charged a couple of batteries and put them in.  Nothing happened, but a battery did fall out as the contact had been bent.  Once straightened I tried again and success, the Beetle runs.

The next item to look at was the smoke, nothing was coming out.  Having a look between the rear wheels I could see that a pipe was loose.  15 minutes later and the pipe was back on.  Put the batteries back in and success, the smoke comes out of the rear pipe.

The only thing not working is the rear light in the engine bay, but I don't fancy taking the car apart just to resolve this so I will keep it as it is.

A good buy and a great saving, worth looking out for all options and not just buying the most expensive version available.
