January 2022
I uncovered Bertie for the firat time this year, although the weather was a little cold it didn't stop me taking a few photos. Here's to another good year.
February 2022
This month I checked Bertie over once again prior to it's annual service. I like a garage to check it over to make sure there isn't anything I have missed. It is normally just wear and tear items that need replacing, occasionly it can be something worse but that doesn't happen too often. It was a surprisingly warm day for February, the sun came out for a bit and made it a pleaseant day.
February 2022
I was feeling hungry to decided to make some cake with the Beetle Mould. It didn't take too long to bake, it probably took longer to decorate!
May 2022
The first show of the year for Southern Classics, now held at the Lavendar Line at Isfield, East Sussex. There were lots of cars on display, the turnout being above expectations for a new show location. You could mingle through the cars, have a butchers at the autojumblers and then hop on the train for a quick ride up and down the line. The sun shone all day and it was great to see such a variety. Well worth a visit. Bertie ran really well that day, although some of the roads on the A22 are quite shocking and should be avoided at all costs!
June 2022
It was the Queens Jubilee celebration weekend and I had booked to visit the Laughton Showground and show Bertie. I took Bertie down to my Caravan in preparation and thought whilst the sun was out I would take a few photos. Bertie didn't get too dirty, only a few bug splats and a little dust but bothing that couldn't be wiped off.
June 2022
The Laughton show started off with cloud and a little drizzle\light rain but it soon cleared up and by the afternoon it was a much brighter day. The show was packed, the most I have ever seen and there was a large turn out of classic cars, military vehicles, tractors and commercial vehicles. The Laughton Spring show is always well supported and well worth a visit. Bertie drove fantastic along the roads and didn't miss a beat. It was a good day.
June 2022
The second show of the year for Southern Classics (SCS), this time held at Horsted Keynes Station, part of the Bluebell Railway. The site is quite steep with hidden dips, this makes it a challenge to get all the cars in place safely and when leaving you have to be careful not to bottom out. It was a good show, the weather stayed nice (despite the previous week it being wet and windy) and there was a large turn out. There were a few autojumble stalls with various parts to be had. You could also have a trip on the two trains which were going up and down the line all day between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead. It was a lovely backdrop to the show seeing the trains pull in/out of Horstd Keynes station with the smell of old school coal smoke. It was a lovely show. I had been asked by the SCS Commitee if I could take photos for their show, in doind this I forgot to take many photos of Bertie, oh well, never mind.
August 2022
I had a couple of days off work so I took the time to give Bertie a good polish and clean over two days. It was a really hot couple of days (who says we don't have a summer) so I had to be careful working in the sun. I took a few photos in the morning before it got too hot. Still shining bright even early in the morning.

I took a few further photos the next day. All I had to do this today was hoover Bertie and load a few things up ready for the next show. Bertie certainly looks great in the sun and is quite photogenic. It certainly was warm.

The third show of the year for SCS, held at their spiritual home of Worthing Rugby Club. I had again been asked to be the photographer for the day, a job I relish and take great pride in. The difficulty is usually the prize giving as there are plenty of awards to be handed out and making sure you know who is who is important. The day started brightly but there certainly was a few clouds around and the sun did go in towards the end of the day. Around 150 cars turned up, which meant a lot of photo's to be taken and also a lot of sorting and editing later to ensure the photos are of the right quality. There are always several autojumblers present here at WRC and you can always pickup a bargain.
September 2022
The fourth and final show of the year for SCS was held at Borde Hill Gardens. For late September it was a glorious day, the sun was out, it was warm with only a few clouds and a gentle breeze at times. The show was well supported by classic car owners and visitors alike. The backdrop being the old stately home. It is well worth paying a visit to Borde Hill Gardens. The show entrance is quite narrow and a large ex-army wagon did have a bit of a struggle to get in and out, a sight to be seen.
December 2022
As the end of the year beckons, I decided to take Bertie on one last drive to work before putting under cover for the Christmas break. It was a nice drive, a little cold in the morning but it soon warmed up. If you look closely in the pictures below you will just be able to see the new seat covers I have for the front seats. This is a custom seat cover, I purchased fabric with a Beetle car on from myfabrics.co.uk and me and my Dad set about creating seat covers. Whilst they might not fit 100% they do look good and are a welcome addition to Bertie. Much better than the standard black, blue or grey covers you usually get.
